What do you know about Islamic headwear? Cos there is a lot to know…
The niqab is a traditional piece of clothing, worn by many women of Islamic faith. In some communities, it’s a symbol of oppression of women, who do not have the same rights as men.
However, many Muslim women wear these clothes for purely cultural reasons and face unnecessary harassment from non-Muslims, for choosing to wear it.
These dancers are showing another side to Muslim women, providing an opportunity for non-Muslims to access the traditions and learn more about the people under the veil.
